THE MUSICAL TRINITY
The Three great composers, Thyagaraja (1767-1847), Muthuswamy Dikshitar
(1776- 1835) and Syama sastri (1762-1827) constitute the musical trinity.
They were all born in Thiruvarur and lived in the district of Thanjavur,
Tamilnadu. They were great souls whose scholarship and proficiency were
rooted firmly in Indian spirituality.
Apart from the dexterity and command with which they handled even
the rare ragas, making their compositions repositories of musical
genius, what has made them the ‘Trinity’ is the sublime and soul-stirring
quality of their music.
